ACCEPTABLE FILE FORMATS FOR REPLICATION:
Audio CD (Physical Disc)
If you have an Audio CD master that is properly edited, has the correct track spacing,
song order, and overall sound that you are happy with, you can use our Master Uploader
App to easily convert your physical master into a DDP 2.0* master that can be uploaded
to us for your order. There is no loss in quality, and you save the time and cost
of having to mail your physical master to us!
*A DDP 2.0 file set is the industry standard format used by replication facilities.
Audio Files (Not replication-ready;
Requires preparation by the SoundLab)
Individual WAV, AIFF, or FLAC files may be uploaded for replication orders.
MP3/AAC
and similar files may be uploaded but are strongly discouraged because they are
a compressed format and may compromise the quality of your replicated CDs.
• These file types must be properly edited. Any desired space between tracks should
be contained at the end of each file, otherwise a standard spacing will be applied.
Files needing editing or clean-up may incur extra cost for post-production work by
the SoundLab at Disc Makers. You will be notified of this prior to any work being
performed.
• Ideally files should have a resolution/sample rate of 16-bit/44.1K, though other
bit depths and sample rates will be accepted and converted as necessary.
• Projects requiring cross-fades and specific track ID placement should be uploaded
using one of the "replication-ready" formats below to ensure the proper layout of
your disc.
DDP 2.0 (replication-ready)
A DDP 2.0 file set* is the recommended format for uploading a "replication-ready"
master. A DDP file set contains the audio and all other necessary information required
by the CD plant, it also can include CD-TEXT, ISRC codes, etc. A DDP file set is
typically prepared at a mastering studio using special software, your studio can
upload a DDP file set directly on your behalf.
* It is recommended that DDP file sets be placed in a zipped or stuffed folder prior
to uploading.
BIN/CUE Files (replication-ready)
A .bin file is an image of an audio CD or CD-ROM and is generally accompanied by
a .cue file that describes how the tracks of a CD are laid out.
Unsupported Formats:
.CDA files are not an acceptable audio format. If you are trying to upload directly from your Audio CD master please choose the “Audio CD (Physical Disc)” upload option.
We do not support the SD2f image file format.
FOR MASTERING WITH THE SOUNDLAB AT DISC MAKERS:
Audio Files
Individual WAV, AIFF, or FLAC files may be uploaded for mastering with the SoundLab.
MP3/AAC and similar files are strongly discouraged because they are a compressed
format and may compromise the quality of your final master.
• Files can be any combination of bit depth/sample rate and you are encouraged to
upload the highest quality files you have access to.
• Files do not need to be edited when submitted for mastering with the SoundLab
as final editing and spacing is part of the mastering process.
