Disc Makers Offers Bands Easy Way to Sell Digital Downloads at Gigs
Pennsauken, NJ, October 31, 2008 – Disc Makers, the leading independent CD and DVD manufacturer, introduces Download Cards—a new way for musicians to sell digital downloads at gigs and festivals.
These custom-printed cards include a unique code that is good for one download of the artists’ album at DigStation.com, the popular independent download site. Artists decide how much to sell the cards for (or they can give them away for free if they want to) and their customers take care of the rest.
"While most bands and customers still like CDs, downloads are becoming more and more popular," says Disc Makers President Tony van Veen. "Download Cards offer bands a broader product line. Plus, these credit-card-sized Download Cards are much easier to carry around than CDs. This is not only a benefit for customers, it makes them the perfect vehicle for bands who want to distribute their music at festivals."
How they work
Disc Makers designs and prints the custom cardboard cards (almost like a business card) that include the artists’ album artwork on the front and a unique code on the back. The artists sell or distribute their Download Cards to their fans. The back of the card includes instructions for the card holder to visit DigStation.com where they enter their card’s unique access code, which takes them to a page where they can easily download the album. Each card is valid for one complete album download, and cannot be reused once the album is downloaded.
How to get them
Download Cards are normally $98 for 100 but, until April 30, 2009, Disc Makers is offering an additional 100 cards for free. Plus, if artists order their Download cards along with a new replication order, Disc Makers will waive the $49 set up fee.
