What kind of stuff inspires you?
I’m motivated by the happy client notes I read from customers who are wowed by what our designers create. My own design work is inspired by the colors, textures and patterns I see in textiles. I’m crazy for fabric and often have several sewing projects going at once.

My studio is filled with yards of fabrics, as well as paper samples, found objects and piles of photographs - my very handsome weimaraner is my best subject.
What do you do for fun?
I like to comb flea markets and thrift stores for one of a kind items. I also like to bring new life to old furniture - I think of it as creative recycling.
What's your favorite album cover?
I’ve always been drawn to the photo on the Cat Stevens album “Footsteps In The Dark”. It’s a crescent moon on a deep blue sky and there’s this terracotta color wall jutting out on one side. You can see a pale glow on the darkened side of the moon. It’s due to the light reflected from Earth and is referred to as “earthshine.” I like the sharp contrast of colors and shapes in this simple photo but I’d like to redesign the type. It will always be one of my favorite albums because of the emotion in his songs and because much of the music is featured in the classic “Harold and Maude.”
What's the coolest concert you went to?
Well, the first two concerts I ever went to were in the ‘80s - Tom Petty and Carlos Santana. It’s just amazing to me how they are both still going strong today. Most recently, I went to see the B-52s!
What's your favorite pizza topping?
Thick crust pizza with roasted veggies, sans cheese, please. (and absolutely no olives) |
