 Nekita made her debut at the age of 5 in pre- school. She took a popular nursery rhyme and re-created it with her own words. To this day children are still singing this nursery rhyme. Since then she has embarked on a fulfilling career, which has given her the opportunity to experience performing all over the East coast (New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Washington DC). Her performances are refreshing, soulful and exciting!
Nekita began singing in pre-school and further developed her voice and stage presence in high school and college. She attended the Hart School of Music where she studied classical music with Kevin Anderson and Robin Blauers. She continues to grow and improve through her gifted interpretation of gospel, pop, R & B and soul classics as well as writing and performing original works.
Nekita was chosen out of 13 contestants in a statewide talent competition held in 1992 to perform at the World's Famous Apollo Theatre. She has performed at venues such as: The Supper Club (NY), BB Kings (Foxwoods Casino) (CT), Mohegan Sun Casino (CT), Hartford's Convention Center (CT), Gillette Stadium (MA). Her music has been heard on Power l041 and Hot 93.7, WQTQ 89.9, and-Springfield Technical WTCC. She has appeared in concert and has opened up for some of today's biggest entertainers such as Kem, Syleena Johnson and The O'Jays. As a soloist, Nekita has performed for many significant companies and venues such as The NAACP, The Hartford's Advocate, and The First Cathedral Church.
Her musical influences include: Etta James, Betty Wright, Whitney Houston, Joss Stone, Alicia Keys, Madonna, Marvin Gaye, Yolanda Adams, Patti Labelle and a host of others.
