Radio Hour

Alternative/ Folk Punk

The Radio HourTim Hort's Chicago based group "The Radio Hour" is stark, captivating and dark with dramatic swings in mood and presentation. Hort's voice is raspy and passionate. His work is unpretentious, deeply confessional and he draws from organic, surreal 70's alt-rock, folk-punk, and acoustic songwriter influences. Described oddly enough as a sound where "Paul Simon meets Pink Floyd," Hort's music gets noteworthy praise. CMJ selected The Radio Hour as its "A & R PICK." Chicago Tribune has commended Hort's "unsettling" music score abilities. Illinois Entertainer called Hort's work "Terrifically chilling" and noted him to be a "strong, emotional singer." Chicagogigs.com defined the material as a "mix of dreamlike musings and melancholy stories" and Lollipop Magazine says, "...the Radio Hour has a conviction all its own, still discovering the nature of pain and experience, measuring, years before judging."

Hort's melodic songwriting catches the ear of both the adult-alternative crowd and college audiences. Hort's performances span nearly ten years of popular clubs, festivals, coffeehouses and colleges throughout Chicago and the Midwest, primarily with his long-time collaborators Jordan Macarus and Joe Griffin. Hort's musical reach is expansive, including regional acoustic tours, music scores in theater, and club dates. Hort has made several radio appearances - including being recognized on "Best of Live & Unplugged - Radio Special" on 95.1FM. Hort has two albums in distribution "World's Worst Antenna" and the 2003 release "The Radio Hour," which was engineered by Blaise Barton (who recorded such artists as Bob Dylan, Liz Phair and Sons of the Never Wrong). Both albums enjoy some national airplay. The Radio Hour is currently underway on a third full-length release for 2006.
