 The Speeds story begins in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, that dirty old city that somehow spawned Andy Warhol and was a favorite mid-century hangout of such opiated
jazz greats as Parker and Coltrane. Flash forward to the second year of this new millennium when three young modern-day savants (Keith, Jim Pane, and J.Vega)
got tired of playing with themselves and decided to play together instead. Copping their name from a British magazine spread on sixties garage groups, the band taped a dozen of their edgy post-pop gems and hit the road.
Already a local hit on WXDX, WKPS, and WLER, their songs have infiltrated XM radio as well as the net at ArtistFirst, Indieshop, and GetUnderground, among others. Their tracks "Ask Me if I Care" and "Message for You" were both honored as "Single of the Week" on Popbang Radio, the internet's hottest power-pop station, and the former has been selected for the soundtrack of MTV's "Laguna Beach" Season 1 DVD.
