Abbie Gardner

"She can be touching, wrenching, haunting, or bluesy, or all three at different moments in one song." -The Ectophile's Guide to Good Music

New York-based Abbie Gardner is a singer, songwriter, and Dobro player who doesn't believe in musical segregation. After releasing a record of swing jazz standards with her father, pianist Herb Gardner (My Craziest Dreams, 2004), she went on to combine jazz, bluegrass, and blues in her 2006 solo CD of original acoustic material, Honey On My Grave. Abbie was a finalist in the 2003 John Lennon Songwriting Contest for "One Love," a song featured on this CD. She was also a finalist in the 2006 Rocky Mountain Folks Festival Song Contest. Abbie lends her Dobro, songwriting, and vocalist skills to the female Americana trio Red Molly. The band has released a self-titled 4-song EP (2005) and a full-length CD Never Been to Vegas (2006), which debuted on the Americana charts at #38. Red Molly plays a variety of stringed instruments, and sings in tight three-part harmony, creating their distinctive, rootsy sound. Red Molly has an extensive Northeast touring schedule, including the 2006 Falcon Ridge Folk Festival Emerging Artist Showcase, the Boston Folk Festival and more.
