Object

Alternative, Brooklyn, NY
http://www.objectband.com

Object mixes many influences from classical to modern, but is most often compared to 90's alternative music. Nirvana, Sonic Youth, Deftones, Failure, Foo Fighters, Melvins, Pixies, Queens of the Stone Age, Smashing Pumpkins, Weezer, Jeff Buckley, PJ Harvey and countless others are all major influences on Object's sound, but the result is unique and refreshingly current.

Eric and Maria met at NYU where they bonded over sympathetic vibrations and earth tones. Within the confines of this institution, they jammed late into the night, provoking school security and ultimately getting kicked out of the building by uniformed agents wielding nightsticks. When at last able to snag some time in the music technology department’s finest multi-track studio, Eric and Maria documented their initial compositions with several DAT tapes, piles of session files and various poems. Soon the duo found themselves with a name, an “Indie” recording full of phase problems, and a mutual fascination with their emerging 'rock band.’ Two CDs and two bass players later, Eric and Maria found themselves back in their natural state, as a duo, and decided to continue this way. Compensating with effects and more intricate playing, Object found this lineup elicited more of a positive response than ever, and has been forging ahead with a universally revered originality.
