Southern soul and funk quartet wins $35,000 grand prize package and earns the title of Top Independent Act in the Southeast prizes!
Nashville, Tennessee— August 1, 2003 — The Gamble Brothers Band won the Disc Makers Independent Music World Series (IMWS) Southeast finals held last night at 3rd & Lindsley in Nashville. As the grand prize winner, the Gamble Brothers Band takes home over $35,000 in prizes, including recording gear, instruments, CD manufacturing services, DJ equipment, and more.

"This is awesome," says Al Gamble with a big smile on his face. "Everyone played great tonight, and we are truly honored to be selected from such a talented group of musicians. We cannot thank Disc Makers enough for this amazing opportunity."

The Gamble Brothers Band was one of six finalists competing before a panel of twelve judges, including representatives from Capitol Records, ASCAP, Billboard Magazine, Shure Microphones, Dual Tone Records, Americana Entertainment, 102.9 The Buzz, and The Nashville Scene. Over 1,200 unsigned bands and independent artists submitted entries for the Southeast region of the IMWS. The other finalists included Chef Chris and His Nairobi Trio (Sarasota, FL), Dean Fields (Nashville, TN), Jag Star (Knoxville, TN), The Smartest Monkeys (Nashville, TN) and Wisedumb (Atlanta, GA).

The Gamble Brothers Band is a Memphis-based mixture of modern southern soul and funk.
