Russoul (Chicago, IL)

Russoul

Attending church, practicing piano, and singing created the foundation for Russoul’s talent. His mother was the Minister of Music at several different churches, and his father a Deacon. He attended Chicago public schools, participated in school choirs, and he loved performing in school plays. After watching a Stevie Wonder concert on television, Russoul began to gravitate towards singing and playing the piano. At the age of ten, Russoul attended a concert given by The Soul Children of Chicago, under the leadership of Walter Whitman, and an indelible impression was made upon him. After auditioning and becoming a member of the Soul Children, he continued to grow musically and spiritually. His passion and drive for singing was enhanced as he watched other soloists perform.

Russoul has opened for artists Stevie Wonder, Kanye West, LL COOL J, New Edition, Eryka Badu, Chaka Khan, Cameo, Frankie Beverly and Maze, and Sam Salter. He also has performed for major events such as the Taste of Chicago 2004-2008; the Winter Music Conference 2006-2008 in South Beach, Miami, with world renown house dj Dj Mark Grant, Real Men Cook, The Black Women’s Expo; and at the Milwaukee’s Summer fest. In 2004 Russoul was declared the Chicago Idol winner by celebrity judges Kanye West, Common, No ID, Selena Johnson, Tiffany Green and contest sponsor, Elroy Smith. Grammy Award winner Kanye West produced the song, “Second Chance” on Russoul.

Karen Page (Toronto,OH)

Karen Page

Karen Page is the dream child of Johnny Doyle of Toronto, Ohio, who actually started the band as a solo grind project in 2007. Brought together from the ashes of the band The Blood of Our Hero, Doyle on guitar was soon joined by Anthony Bradley (also of Toronto), on drums; Rick Miclea of Youngstown, Ohio, on bass; and Matt Tluchowski  of Mingo Jct., Ohio on vocals (also vocals for Nova Prospect).

We set our aim on making music that WE enjoy, and that maybe other people could get into as well. We’ve grown stronger over the past year, and we’ve never been better than we are now with our new recruit of Chris Vogagis of Steubenville, Ohio on drums with Bradley moving over to guitar. Vogagis is also the drummer for Nova Prospect. We just finished recording our debut full length album Operator, Operator, the Phone is Dead at Sacred Sound Studios in Martin’s Ferry, Ohio.

Lying Delilah (Highland, IN)

Lying Delilah

With Northwest Indiana roots and a strong all ages following, Lying Delilah is a breath of fresh air to Chicago's guitarist dominated music scene. Fronted by Jodi Rosenthal on keys with her sensual voice, complimented by Steve Pesich (bass) and Andrew Dumaresq (drums), Lying Delilah have begun to create a stir with solid live performances throughout Chicago, Wisconsin and Indiana. All agree that it was "instant magic" when they sat down and began feeding off each other's ideas, ultimately writing debut album, Polygraph (February 2006).

The album conveys an unexplainable, adventurous sound. Jodi, no doubt, faces comparisons to female songstresses Fiona Apple and Tori Amos with her undeniable piano skills and heart melting vocals, but with the addition of Steve and Andy and an eclectic combination of influences – including Ben Folds, Etta James, Fionna Apple, Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, They Might Be Giants, and Primus – the band has been able to defy such comparisons and combine various musical styles to create a sound unique and refreshing to today's music industry. Lying Delilah just finished their much anticipated second album, With No Gravity.

Mike and Ike (Austin, TX)

Mike and Ike

Mike and Ike met at the University of Texas at Austin, where they were both undergraduates. They discovered a common passion for hip-hop music, and Ike’s budding beat-making skills provided the backdrop for the two to hone their rhyme abilities. Years passed, with the duo improving steadily, both in the studio and on stage. Ike found his footing as a producer, and developed a distinctive style that formed a perfect canvas for their art.

Mike and Ike blend smart, but accessible lyrics with the infectious sounds of jazz and soul music to create a style that recalls the best elements of where rap music has been, but stays fresh and inventive, always looking toward the future. In a musical landscape full of studio gangsters rapping about how hard they are and money they may or may not actually have, Mike and Ike are a refreshing change of pace.

Realign (Normal, IL)

Realign

Realign’s latest effort, entitled New Wine is about new beginings, letting go of all the crap in your past a starting over with a clean slate. A theme no doubt inspired by the new life that has been breathed into the band as of late. A few recent personnel changes in the midst of trying to write and record a new record proved challenging. But this state of uncertainty about Realign’s future only strengthened the resolve of founding members Brandon Jamison, Ryan Jamison, and Michael Dotson.

Their commitment to hard work and excellence has been the cornerstone of Realign’s success. With their previous record, and extensive touring they set in place a strong foundation. A Myspace friends list of over 10,000 and growing is a testament to their expanding popularity. Realign’s reputation for an intense, and captivating live show has landed them on the stage with many major label acts such as Kutless, Thousand Foot Krutch, Day of Fire, and Red.

Realign is:
Brandon - lead vocals/guitar
Ryan - scream vocals/keyboard
Chris - guitar
Mike - bass guitar
Michael - drums
