The
steps to know when buying Merch.
Here are some tips on how to make the most out of your Merch purchase.
1.
Choosing your item(s)
Take a second to think about who your fans are and what they wear.
Then consider which item or items best fit their personality. Maybe
you just need some Custom
T-Shirts. Then again, maybe your fans like to wear Custom
Skull Caps, too. Sometimes offering more unusual items will be
more appealing to your fans. The greater the variety of band merch
you have to sell, the greater your opportunity to generate real revenue.
Not to mention the amount of publicity you'll generate with a legion
of adoring fans proudly displaying your Merch for the world to see.
2.
Design
For a sure-fire way to have eye-popping design, you can hire Disc
Makers' award-winning Design Studio (It's only $99 -- free if you
buy design for your CD or DVD project).
If you decide to design your Merch yourself, here's some advice: Keep
it simple. That doesn't mean "uncool." It just means that intricate
designs don't necessarily translate well to silkscreen printing. You
want something eye-catching and memorable. Also keep in mind that
silkscreening onto garments is not like printing on paper. The more
simple and iconic the design the easier it will translate to a Custom-printed
T-Shirt or Custom Baseball
Caps. In addition, more simple designs tend to appeal to a larger,
more varied audience base. Maximize your potential for Merch sales
by offering a design that will appeal to the most people possible.
3. Choose ink color(s)
Choosing ink colors will be based on both your design and the
color of the garment you are printing on. We can print up to six colors
per location. However, most classic and memorable T-shirts
are one or two colors and that's what we recommend for the best results.
If you are choosing multiple garment colors, make sure you take the
extra time to ensure your ink colors will work well on ALL of the
garment colors you choose. You don't want to end up picking a yellow
ink and then specifying a yellow shirt. That wouldn't be good.
4. Choose design location(s)
Visit our Merch templates
section to see exactly where you can print on our various items as
they do vary. We'll give you the same advice we've been giving you.
Keep it simple: For every color and location you add, there will be
an additional cost involved. Also as silly as it might sound a great
idea is to design your artwork, print it, and then cut it out and
tape it to a shirt. This will give you a much clearer picture of how
your artwork will look on the shirt itself. Viewing your artwork this
way will also help ensure you are comfortable with the scale and position.
Also bear in mind that if you are mixing sizes (say small through
XL), your artwork will stay the same size while the garment size will
change. This means that your design will take up more space on the
small shirt and less space on the XXL. You'll want to plan your artwork
accordingly to achieve a "happy balance" across every size.
5. Choose garment color(s).
While you can mix garment colors within the same order, you need to keep the size or your artwork and the ink colors it prints in the same. Again, keep this in mind when choosing multiple garment colors.
6. Choose sizes for each color
You can split your order into S, M, L, or XL for any garment at no additional charge. XXL however, costs $1.89 more per garment.
