Why is my 7-day turn time suddenly 10 days?
For years Disc Makers has been quoting turn times from start to finish. That means from the moment your master arrives at our door, until your finished discs leave our factory. This timeline included:
• The pre-approval process (job preparation, handling, etc.)
• The time it takes for our customer to approve their proofs
• And the actual production time in our factory (replication, printing, packaging, etc.).
While we felt that this was the best way to quote a complete turn time, it wound up causing quite a bit of confusion for our clients. Why? Because all of our competitors used production turn times only to quote projects. (i.e. after the client approves their proofs). This allowed them to claim they had the same or better turn times as Disc Makers on paper, even though the total turn time was in reality much longer. As long as a week or more.
We think it’s important for our customers to be able to compare apples to apples when they're shopping for the best disc replicator. So we’ve changed our method of quoting CD and DVD replication jobs to production time only. By publishing production time in our catalog and website, you'll see that Disc Makers truly is the fastest disc replicator on the planet.
Our published turn times are now being quoted from the moment you approve your proofs, and does not include the pre-approval process or the time it takes you to approve your proofs. The pre-approval process can range from 2-7 days, depending on the package you order. In addition, you will need to factor in additional pre-approval days for design, mastering, and/or authoring if you are buying those services.
If you are buying a 7-day turn time, what that actually means is:
• 3 business days of pre-approval time – which is typical for most jobs.
• And 7 business days of production time after you approve your proofs
So your total turn time is really 10 business days.
And remember, if you also ordered other services like graphic design, mastering, or authoring, that adds additional time to the pre-approval process. Your product specialist will explain this to you in detail and give you an accurate estimated arrival time based on your package.
