A CD Jewel Case is a three-piece plastic case that usually contains a compact disc along with an insert for liner notes, and a back "tray card." All three parts of the CD Jewel Case are made of injection-molded polystyrene. Click here to view all options.

There are two basic types of clear cases: kickout-boxes and c-shell cases. Made from flexible plastic, c-shell cases are one-piece cases that open like a clamshell with a flat edge on the spine. The disc is held by its center hole, much like in jewel cases.

Kick-out boxes are one-piece cases, made of firm plastic. The are similar to a mini record sleeve, in that the disc slides in and out an opening in the side. Their distinguishing feature is a lever that pushes the disc out of the case.

Like miniature record sleeves, die-cut jackets are made from cardboard and allow the disc to slide in and out from an opening on the side. Some jackets have a die-cut hole on one side so you can see the disc artwork.

A Digipak is a cardboard CD case, which features a jewel-case-style plastic CD tray glued inside a folding cardboard "case."

Hubs hold a disc by its center hole. These hubs have an adhesive side, allowing them to be attached to almost anything.

These are the simplest, least expensive packages available. CD and DVD Sleeves are envelopes that hold discs. Some are made from paper, some are made out of spin-bonded polyethylene (trade-named Tyvek), which is both more durable and less abrasive than paper. Cardboard displays are usually used on countertops, near the cash register in a store. The SumaDek Portable Listening Display is a CD retail display stand and listening station. It holds five CDs in jewel cases and can hold a portable CD player and headphones. It is usually used at tradeshow booths.
