Double LP vinyl record pressing & packaging
Is your album too long to fit on one record? Double LPs to the rescue!
In today’s digital world, albums are frequently much longer than the 44 – 48 minutes of playback time that are optimal for a vinyl LP. Luckily, fans love a double LP. The heft of those two records in a deluxe jacket just shouts “premium!” Sure, the extra pressing costs more, but a double LP sells for anywhere from $15 to $30 more than a regular vinyl album, especially if you make those records extra special with colored vinyl and a deluxe gatefold jacket.

Vinyl resources and frequently asked questions
As much as we (and fans) love vinyl, for a record to sound good, the music should be no longer than approximately 22 minutes per side. However, most albums released today are longer than 44 minutes because, well, there is no such time limitation with streaming. Artists who want to make the impact of putting their album out on vinyl are then faced with a choice: release the whole album on a double LP, or cut songs off the album to fit it on a single LP. If you have a passionate fanbase — even if it’s a modest one — releasing a double LP is the way to go. After all, you need to sell as few as 50 records to pay for an order of 100 double albums.
