Make your vinyl one of a kind with custom features

One of the reasons vinyl has taken off is because of all the available ways to customize your record. While vinyl fans love any LP that one of their favorite bands releases, they get even more excited for a special release on colored vinyl, multicolored vinyl, or heavyweight 180 gram pressings. It’s those options that truly make your record a collector’s item your fans will cherish forever. Here are the options we offer you to make your record one-of-a-kind:

Colored vinyl records

Standard color

On a tight budget, but looking to make your record stand out with colored vinyl? Our standard colors are frequently used, which is why we can offer them for a modest upcharge.

Premium color

For a wider vinyl color palette, our premium color vinyl selection is designed to satisfy the most exacting artist

Multicolor vinyl effects

Splatter effect

The splatter vinyl effect creates a cool multicolored record by sprinkling a second color of vinyl onto a different base color and then pressing the record. When the two vinyl colors melt together during the pressing process, it turns every single record into a unique work of art.

Marble effect

The marble vinyl effect creates a visually attractive record by mixing two colors of vinyl together before pressing the record. When the two vinyl colors blend together during the pressing process, the result is that no two records are alike.

Heavy 180 gram pressings

Records are offered in two weights: the standard 140 grams or the weightier 180 grams, which fans love because it indicates a premium quality record.

The extra mass of a 180 gram record gives it extra durability and resistance to warping, which reduces the chance of the stylus skipping. That extra weight also increases the record’s stability on the turntable, potentially leading to slightly clearer sound due to dampening of any micro-movements while the stylus is moving back and forth in the groove.

Sonically, a 140 gram and a 180 gram record sound virtually identical. While some audiophile listeners claim to be able to hear a minor difference on high-end systems, the fact that groove depth and dynamics are the same for a 140g and 180g means you can be assured that whichever record weight you choose, your record will sound great.

Test pressing options

Test pressings are available with any Disc Makers LP order

On small pressing runs under 500 units, we recommend skipping the test pressing stage, which results in cost savings and faster delivery of your order. Instead of sending you test pressings, we will take a few copies of your record to our quality control room while your records are on press and check them to make sure they play well. We have had excellent results with this process for small orders and guarantee that a vinyl record that will play without skipping.

For orders over 500 records, we strongly recommend doing test pressings. This will add two weeks to your production time, but you will know exactly how your record will sound before we start with your press run. We will send you five test pressings for approval. To keep your order moving forward, please approve your test pressings within 48 hours of receipt.

For an extra special treat for your fans, you can order extra test pressings, which you can sell at a premium price (or you can offer them for free to a handful of your most loyal fans). Our test pressings come in a plain jacket with a plain white label. If you want extra test pressings with your order, please discuss this with your Disc Makers Product Specialist prior to ordering.
